Random notes about my Scout muse from Team Fortress 2 since I don't want to make a real profile for him yet.

- Nickname "Scoot", used on the team and at home. Named after his speed; telling him to "scoot"
- age 19, baby boomer; assuming the game takes place around 1968 that means he was born in 1949
- spent the first five years of his life in New Jersey before the family moved to Boston, still has the Jersey accent
- seven older brothers, eldest brother predicted 8 years older than Scoot, which means he'd be about 27 now
- cocky, smartassed, aggressive
- was bullied by his brothers and boys in school, learned early to solve problems with violence
- taught himself to run in order to get to the fights before his brothers hogged all the fun and to get away when he was over his head. needless to say this training payed off; he's probably the fastest human being of the 60's
- typical teenaged boy; likes comic books, attractive girls and junk food
- favorite comic book is Superman because he's just like him; faster than a speeding bullet, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound
- Superman inspiration to keep running?

- hates needles. not because they hurt, he just doesn't like them.

I miss my Flea. The main reason I dropped him was because Winry, Jet and Marjoly are gone and since then he was fading on me 'cause he missed them.

But he keeps popping up and sparkling at me in my mind.

I wonder if I should reset and reapply him sometime.

And if I do, I'm strongly considering trying harder to play him as the villain. As I played him, he was very affectionate and flirty, as depicted in the few times you see him in the game. But I didn't play him as a villain. If I'd meant to when I started him, it kind of vanished, and he ended up being the sparkly guy who loves everybody. If I were to take him up again, I think I'll want to make him more villainous; maybe spying on everybody and stuff like that. Heck, maybe even go undercover as an affectionate school girl or something, so I can keep what I loved playing about him before.

I dunno...I'd say this calls for a replay, but I doubt the little canon he has can help me here.

Midna: Still in her true form, is taking advantage of it by dressing as a gypsy.
Saria: A forest sprite. Green, tattered dress, fairy wings, crown of leaves, wrapped in vines, etc.
Foxxy: A catholic schoolgirl. She's actually dressed up like that in the show, but I can't find a screenshot. IIRC she wore her hair in pigtails, carried some books in a leather strap, and wore something like this
Jade: Is being a smartass and has dressed as a sexy lady pirate. Something like this. And yes, she's learned about the ninja vs pirate conflict.
Fugen: Decided to be a little silly this year and is masquerading as a hippie. Tie-dye robe, sunglasses, headband, sandals, going around passing fake flowers out to people.
Abel: Will be breaking a few brains dressed as a traditional Playboy Bunny
Elan: Our very own Banjo the Clown! Blue shirt with giant red buttons, party hat, clown makeup, a banjo and a big red nose.
Wolf: asked around for suggestions, and discovered the joys of Elfquest. Thus he shall be dressed as Bearclaw from said series.

Something I wrote in my theatre journal

You might be wondering how I decided to decorate my journal. Well, as of January 2007, I have been a huge fan of roleplay over livejournal.com. It's a fun way to participate in my various fandoms, and it has helped to inspire me to write again, and it is good writing practice, and even acting practice. All the characters on the cover of this journal are fictional characters from other works that I have roleplayed (or still do), as well as one original character of mine drawn by my friend Danni.

When you talk about endowing characters with traits of mind and not bending them to me but rather bending to them, I always think of these characters. They are all very different, from dialects to personalities, and I do my best to put that into how I play them. Often I have to stop and think for a moment because my first response is out of character. For example, sometimes in a conversation that my character Fugen, who is a pacifist, is having with someone else, I get frustrated and want to yell at the other character, but I can't because Fugen wouldn't. Also, sometimes I end up with characters completely unlike me. When I first started playing Abel, I felt a little uncomfortable because he was very rude and a complete jerk, which I am not. But I adjusted quickly and now he is one of my favorite characters to play *because* he is so unlike me.

When I first started roleplay, I would completely freeze sometimes because my character was brand new and I wasn't used to their voice. Since then, though, I've learned how to prepare myself. I look up everything there is to know about them, I talk to fellow fans about my notes, and I'll often start playing them in our online chatrooms so I can see how they interact with other people and work out anything not given that I can add (how they grew up, what kind of music they like, habits, etc). I plan to use this method in class as well; reading the script as soon as possible and even spending some time outside of class in character.

Overall, I'm trying to use what I've learned in class in my roleplaying and vice-versa.

Random thought about Secundo

So I was thinking about Secundo, Jade's AI assistant today. A few things about him, actually.

First, if I recall correctly "secundo" is Spanish for "second." I wonder if there's a "Primero"?

Second, there was a really good fanfic I read a while ago where Secundo belonged to Jade's father. It wasn't finished and I have no idea when or if it will be finished, but it got me thinking about whether that could be Flammy-canon or not. Maybe when Pey'j had to escape with Jade when whatever happened that got her parents killed, they managed to snag the SAC that Secundo is connected to, or maybe saved Secundo's memory or something. Maybe he's a guardian.

Lately he's been keeping tabs on Kakashi 'cause he knows Jade likes him and that he likes her. Maybe he's trying to put them together because he knows she wants him?

Honestly I'm beginning to wonder if Secundo has some sort of programmed or self-chosen goal to protect Jade or at least look out for her. And of course what his power over this is, being a computer program. I'm pretty sure he can keep tabs on her physical health, but I don't think he can actually DO that much outside of working with computers and storing Jade's stuff. In the beginning of the game he warned Jade to be careful because something was wrong with her "psycho-karma", and a few minutes later she passed out.

I dunno, just some random stuff to think about. He's growing on me, the little Spanish bastard ._.

Oh, and being Spanish...that brings up questions about Jade's father too...was he Spanish? Maybe Secundo originally belonged to some company that needed a bilingual program and Jade's father stole him? It's a lot to think about :o

Her her is always kept neat, always brushed and put in a headband, and her bangs are full and falling into her face. Always seen in green clothing; green knee-high boots, green headband, green sweater, green shorts. Accompanied by a small blue fairy, who only looks like a ball of light with wings, and often hides in her hair.

Personality; Very caring and sweet, but also a little naiive. She knows the law of the forest like she knows the back of her hand, but outside of the trees she is exposed and lost. But in the end she has a good soul; she always wants people she cares about to be safe and happy, and while she is often terrified she will be the hero if it falls to her to be the one. She loves music and dance, and can be generalised as a Fae stereotype; light-hearted, innocent, playful, and a little mischievous.

Abilities/Strengths; Musically inclined, Saria is skilled at playing music, especially the ocarina. When she plays her ocarina, she can hear the voices of spirits that dwell in the forest. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, and can usually tell when someone has good intentions or not. She is the future Sage of the Forest, a guardian of the earth who will someday have a hand in saving the world from evil. She doesn't know it yet, but sometimes
Weaknesses; She is very sheltered from the world outside her forest, and is eternally young due to her race unable to grow up, thus does not understand a lot of things, about the world and about people. While she is willing to be the hero, she is still very much a coward and inexperienced at facing demons, or even fighting.
Notable Possessions; A hand-carved wooden ocarina, a wooden slingshot, and an assortment of small seeds and nuts (ammunition for the slingshot)

History; Saria was born from the Great Deku Tree in Kokiri Forest, and grew up alongside Link, a boy left in the Deku Tree's care when his mother died. She grew to be one of the more popular girls in the village, adored by everyone, especially the leader of the tribe, Mido. She prefered to keep her distance from Mido, however, and became best friends with Link, who was shunned by most of the other Kokiri because he didn't have a guardian fairy.

When she was about eight years old, she ventured into the Lost Woods, the thickest part of the forest that the Deku Tree forbade any of the children enter. To her surprise however, she didn't get lost in those woods. She navigated them with no effort on her part, and at the end of a great sylvan maze, she found a clearing. In this clearing, there was nothing but a tall, withering tree, a stone wall with a single, blocked entrance that seemed to call to the little girl, and the air glittered with fireflies, fairies, and will-o-the-wisps. Saria found the place absolutely beautiful, so she stayed a while and played her ocarina, and to her surprise she found that she could hear voices when she played. They called themselves the spirits of the forest, and they spoke with her about everything. She found this place to be called the Sacred Meadow, and she made it her own secret hideaway, where she hid daily, never telling anyone, not even Link.

But then one day, a few years later, the Great Deku Tree suddenly died. Link was immedietely blamed, even as he left the forest, saying that there was something he had to do now. Saria was the only one who said goodbye to him, and she gave him her ocarina to remember him by. Life continued in the forest, and Saria continued to stay in the Sacred Meadow, making a new ocarina for herself and playing it. Link eventually returned to the forest, and he found his way to her meadow too. As she saw him, as he discovered her secret, she had a strange feeling looking at him. A feeling that someday, somehow, the very place she was sitting was going to be important to them both. She then taught him the only other secret she kept from him; her song. With it, they developed a link through which they could talk to each other, even when he was far away. He left again not long after, but they never felt apart now that they could speak to each other.

It has now been three years since that day. The link between Saria and Link has long been silent, and with the guardian spirit, the Great Deku Tree, dead, Kokiri Forest is a home for horrible monsters that dared not enter his domain in his lifetime. The Kokiri people live every day in fear, and Mido continues to insist that Link was the murderer of the Great Deku Tree. Only Saria defends him, but in the end is helpless to help the forest herself. But as each day passes, the strange allure from the temple in Saria's meadow grows stronger.

Third-person sample; "Oh...you're leaving...?"
Saria stared at the back of her friend's head as he ran past her on the shakey rope bridge that lead from the forest to the outside world. He stopped when he heard her voice, turning to look into her sad eyes.
"Saria..." Link muttered sadly, stepping closer, "I'm sorry. There's something I have to do. The Great Deku Tree--"
"It's alright." Saria shook her head sadly, "I always knew you would leave someday. You're different from the rest of us."
She closed her eyes, hugging the wooden object in her hands to her chest.
"But that's ok. Because we'll be friends forever, right?"
"Right." was Link's quiet reply. The green-haired girl's eyes were wet, tears creeping into them. Slowly she extended her hands, taking his own and closing his fingers around the object she held.
"I want you to have this...so you'll always have something to remember me by. Please take good care of it."
Link looked at his hand, fingers clutching the wooden item that was placed into it.
"Your ocarina...? S-Saria, I couldn't--"
"It's alright. I can always make another one." she didn't meet his eyes for a moment, forcing back tears before she could look up and give him a sad smile, "I hope that you'll think of me and come back to the forest someday."
She stepped closer, drawing him into a tight hug, which he returned without hesitation. But the moment was brief, for he slowly let go, backing away slowly with a sad stare, first at her, then at the hollow tree that crowned the entrance of the forest. Then he turned and ran for the exit, not looking back.
Once he had disappeared from sight, Saria fell to her knees, clutching the rope supporting the bridge and letting the tears fall.

First-person sample; Mido still insists that this is all Link's fault. After thirteen years...I just can't understand it! Just because he was different. What's so wrong with being different?
He didn't know Link like I did. He would never do something like this. He loved this forest too.
...I wish I knew what happened to him. We used to talk all the time. But then he just...disappeared. He couldn't be.....could he...?
......I can't think about that. He wouldn't want me worrying about him when the others need help. But...what can I do?

After my review with Pocky, which was pretty much what I expected, I decided to use Snow's idea from her last post and also build on it a little bit;

Below is my characters current situation in the game, and my future plans for them. 'cause part of the problem I've found (and that we discussed) is that sometimes I'll focus on one character so much that I forget what I was doing with others. So I decided I'll make a post and tag it so I can try to be more on top of my activity.

Character thoughts: Abel and Fugen

Abel:

In issue #847 of DMFA, Dan talks about how he was cursed by the Fae and when he eats shellfish all of his feathers fall out.

I wonder if that's an allergic reaction that beings with wings have. And on that note, I wonder if Abel's allergic to anything.

Fugen:

Nearly all the Sennin in the series completely lose track of time since they're in the clouds and immortal. This can lead to some silly jokes about "Oh what's it been 100 years now?". But from what I've noticed, I think Fugen actually keeps careful track of human world time. He remembers when his birthday is (and even looks forward to it), he even remembers the date of his family's murder (though he won't tell ME what it is). It may just be because he's living in the human world instead of in the clouds, but I think it might also be that he wants to hang on to the human parts of himself. He loves being a Sennin, he loves the things he's done in the Sennin world, but in the end he is human. The first 12 years of his life were in the human world, there are special memories for him there, even if the last ones are sad. That might be another reason he's so close with Taikoubou; Taikoubou clings to the human world so tightly, even thinks of himself as human near the end, iirc.

I dunno, I might be mis-remembering, I might be overanalysing, I might just be stating the obvious. Who knows, I just felt the need to write it XD

I'm really sorry if I take a while to post something or comment or am generally slow to reply to stuff. Our air conditioner is broken and I've been flitting in and out of depression all weekend because of it, and have also been really sluggish. I don't take heat well.

I don't know how much this will affect my gameplay, since like I said, I keep going in and out, but I'll do my best to stay on task.

Event plans

It's way early, but may as well brain-dump.

Most of my plans for the Random Pairing event are for characters who like each other but won't make a move otherwise; Wolf/Martha, Jade/Kakashi.

Aside from that, the only other one planned is Fugen/Taiitsu. I have no idea what, if anything, I'll be doing with pre-existing pairings, or the ones who aren't in pairings like Saria, Jack and Elan. Jack might get thrown with the first person who offers though, especially if it's a boy, 'cause he's all paranoid about being gay XDD and I'll most likely keep Saria out of it; too young for most of the crowd and still waiting for Tsukasa.

And Foxxy...I have no idea. I know Pocky's plans and dunno if I want to make a move on my side yet.

As for Abel...I'll either put him with (DMFA)Dan or just leave him be. But if I decide that lust is intoxicating...hoooo boy we're gonna have a drunk cubi on our hands XD

Emotion flavors

So my new muse, Abel, is empathetic. Well, not really, 'cause he doesn't care what people feel half the time, but he can feel other people's emotions and feed on them. It's canon that emotions "taste" a certain way to cubi, so I've been thinking about what kind of emotions would taste like what to Abel.

These are all just ideas so far, of course. There are probably more emotions to work with and more ideas for what I've already put down. We'll see.
